This Bites!
A day to day progression of what appears to be a spider bite on Windy's rear leg between
the hock and the stifle.  Information on duration, severity, lasting effects, etc are
greatly appreciated.  Please feel free to email below.
Thursday, August 30th:  Unusual sore noticed that afternoon and by late evening it had opened up and
was oozing, bleeding, and had a very meaty appearance.

Friday, August 31st:  Topical and oral antibiotics started.  Twice daily soaks are being done to keep the healthy
tissue growing and clean.  I added a measuring tool to track the size changes in the wound.
Saturday, September 1st:  24 hours after antibiotics and soaks.  No additional swelling of leg or hock.  Windy's
demeanor never indicates she has this hole on her leg, unless it's cleaning time, then she gets a little upset..but I
don't blame her.
Sunday, September 2nd:  It's actually looking a little better but it's increasing in size.  It also appears there is another one forming on her
side as it is taking on the same appearance as the other did initially (both appeared at the same time so she is *not* getting re-exposed).
Tuesday, September 4th:  It's better, it's worse.  It's better, it's worse.  That's been the diagnosis over the weekend.  Windy and I have differing
opinions when it comes to Jane Anne's "
Wonder Dust".  I think it's great while Windy...well...doesn't.  It seems to be working its 'wonder'
however and we hope it continues to heal quickly.  Thanks Jane!!
Friday, September 28th:  Almost a month later the worst bite is now the best healed.  There are still concerns over the bite on her side and
the one on her heel which never opened up and are not healing as the open sore has.  A punch biopsy is on the agenda pending her
Nationals debut to determine the amount of damage to the underlying skin from the bites.
