Potter quickly became the "good student" and often ranked at the head of the class in training.  She became dubbed "Potter
Pants" by Jamie's daughter, Lily, as Potter was a stand out in the kennel, wearing her blaze pink collar, her signature since she was
born.  Invaluable reports by those visiting the farm, and Jamie himself, yielded nothing but praises about Potter's progress.
Despite being 9 hours away from "home" Potter was developing a new "home" and I understood this was meant to be
.
In 2 short months, Potter has become a 'green' broke dog.  She has a classic Vizsla silhouette on point, intense bird drive,
remarkable desire and ability to mark birds.  She is an honest bird-dog, biddable, and desires to please.  She has built a stable
working relationship with Jamie as evident when I returned to bring her home for a month vacation before heading to North
Dakota for *polishing*.
As those who were riding the 4-wheeler caravan that hot Sunday morning in Georgia will attest, to say I am proud of what this
team has accomplished thus far would be a vast understatement.  As to what the future holds for them as they begin their first
season together, I am sure it will be memorable!

A gracious "thank you" to Gramma Juleeeee for trimming toenails, photo/videographing, Justeen & Matt, Mark & Crystal,
Trish & Karen for the wonderful reports...you guys are the best!!!

Above all, my stomach is no longer in knots and I am so grateful to Jamie, Tippe, and Lily for making me feel at home in their
home and for teaching Potter to be a grown-up bird-dog!

Stay tuned as our adventure continues!!
Potter's marking ability (from a distance)
After completing her show championship with back to back majors at Supported Entries, I decided to begin to learn to train Potter
to eventually run in Gun-dog stakes in field trials.  Having never attempted this before, I elected the help of some local trainers
and our homework began.  Realizing there was a great limit to my ability to train her and feeling we had gotten as far as we could
together, I began a search for a pro-trainer, who could nurture Potter's natural ability to its fullest.  I wanted a trainer who
understood the role my dogs have in my life, that they DO live in my home, get on the furniture, sleep in the bed, and are
essentially..my spoiled to the core..children.  So, many phone calls, emails, and conversations later, we were piling in the truck
headed for Georgia, sending Potter to camp with her new found trainer, Jamie Fountain.

Needless to say, despite hearing nothing but positive things about his training and care for the dogs.....my stomach was in knots!
